Mystic Worlds RPG is a structured game. This means that in some instances, you can only rely on what skills or items you have on your sheet in order to proceed. However... if you are just doing general storyline play, we allow freeform style play. So you can claim to have items, be a super big bad guy, rescue the damsel in distress, or whatever else you'd like to write. Only in official events will you be limited to what is on your sheet. So feel free to get a bit creative in your chat or forum storylines, just try not to go overboard. Characters are more believable if they can back up what they claim once a quest or battle comes along. Now we'll explain some different structured events that WILL require your sheets.

Quests
We do allow storyline and 'para' (freeform) battles that don't require use of your sheet. Any other battles however that use dice or are in quests/events need to be strictly adhering to the skills and items you have. Our system is a bit freeform on how magic works so as long as you have that type of magic unlocked, you can describe it however you like (a fireball, or fire tornado for example.)
Quests will most often require that you stick to your skills and items in order to participate with the event. In a quest, you can use your skills to find clues, discover paths, identify creatures, or negotiate with NPCs for just a few examples. You might be able to get away with boasting certain strengths, but a GM will most often call you on it and make you prove it or face a consequence. Its best to stay on a GM's good side for the best results *wink*.
Events - as in games, activities, and official things that aren't a quest or duel - will also require you to usually have a sheet and be aware of your stats, skills and items. For example, a game might take some gold to play, or perhaps you need your vigor for a feat of strength. If you aren't registered yet, GM's will sometimes let you join in anyway and have you register after, keeping record of anything you earned until it can be added to your sheet.
Advanced Combat essentially means anything outside of a one-on-one duel or a quest battle. This can include things such as wars, guild battles, or attempts at taking down or stealing someone's property. This is also the section that will explain battle games for you to play.
